My Book + Evaluation

For the evaluation of this book I have come up with some questions for myself to answer-

*What do I think of the overall product?
Overall I am very happy with the book I have made, it has turned out how I wanted.

*What changes would I make?
In some of the pages I would change the layout of the photos.

*Am I happy with the photos?
Most of the photos I am very happy with and others I wish where higher quality and more clear lighter images.

*What adjustments would I make next time?
I would change the exposure of some of the images and also I would give my favourite images a page of their own.

*Are the colours what I expected?
Yes I am very pleased with the colours in this book.

*How long did it take the book to be made and is this what i expected?
To have the images set up the way I wanted, the book to be made and sent from America took approximately 4 weeks which is what I was expecting.

*Does my book fit the brief?
Yes I feel I have done what the brief asked and my book is going to fit in well in the boutique it is being displayed in.

Making my book..

To make my photo book I used a website called Blurb http://www.blurb.com/ the reason i used this program was because it was the easiest to use out of the ones I looked at and also gave me more options on the type of book and things I could do in the book, overall I was very happy with this website.
I ended up with a lot more than 100 photos that I liked and wanted to use but had to edit it down due to my budget. I ended up using just under 100 images and had them displayed differently on each page e.g on some I would have four on a page, on others two on a page and on some just one photo. Before putting my images in the book I put them through a program called Polaroin which converts your photos to polaroids for you. In my book the images are just under polaroid size which is 3.5 wide and 4.25 high. Most of the photos I used were in a series so put them together in the book and if images weren't in a series I put them next to photos with similar colour or meaning to make it work when they are seen next to each other.

My work is...

My work is a book of around 100 images of things that I love to see and do such as fashion, friends and flowers, taken while bumming round at home, visiting friends and family or just wandering the streets. Some are of moments worth capturing and some of things I see every day that I take for granted. Some of these images make me happy, some make me hurt but most of them inspire me to go out with my camera and keep shooting. I am hoping that this book will also inspire people to go and take photos of their favourite things too.

Indie Culture

Indie means independent from the mainstream. While some may say that a fan of indie culture otherwise know as an 'indie kid' or 'hipster', is merely a cultural elitist in an ironic t-shirt, others would argue that being indie means embracing a noble set of values namely authenticity, experimentalism, anti commercialism, DIY and appreciation of the world beyond American pop culture. While indie enthusiasts do sometimes adopt a 'cooler than thou' posture when bragging about discussing their obscure interests, the overall attitude is admirable- ;it's cooler to be different.'
